The Corridor was founded for the sole purpose of sharing the idea of complementary currencies and how they will strengthen your community. We’re here to help you make more sense of your dollars and cents as you consider emerging forms of exchange and new types of money.
Open money, sound money and community currency are just a few of the names that they go by. On a local level you’ll find well-established forms in Vermont’s Berkshire Mountain region known as Berkshares. There are newly emerging models in urban centers such as Baltimore where they are launching B Notes. Even Groupon.com has become a form of alternative currency. It’s happening anwhere that the people who buy and sell also desire a more healthy form of exchange.
Whether the money is in the form of paper scrip, a metal token or an electronic time-based mutual credit system such as LETS (local exchange trading systems – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LETS ), the popularity is growing rapidly. The potential for complementary currencies to transform local economies is rising in the consciousness of community members everywhere and right here at The Corridor.

Initially the site is organized around four distinct aspects of society and functions as a social network just like Facebook, MySpace or LinkedIn.
